...regarding that charity I mentioned previously. I wouldn't have done this, but yesterday in the mail I got a package of Christmas cards and a separate letter with the words, "DID YOU GET OUR FREE TOTE BAG OKAY??" and on the inside the letter said, "You're obviously enjoying our free gift to you. Won't you take a moment and fill in the donation card?"
I've had all I can stand, I can't stands no more.
So I sent them an email.
"Dear (charity):
"Please PLEASE remove me from all your future mailings. I donated $20.00 last March, in my brother's name, and since then you have sent me emotionally manipulative literature at LEAST once a week. You have also mailed me unsolicited gifts, such as blankets, key chains, stationery, a tote bag, and numerous other items. You took my well-intentioned gift and completely exploited it. DO NOT contact me again.
Ever,
(Me)"
Well, really.
It sounds perfectly reasonable to me but then again I hate being manipulated! Find a charity that uses more of their money on their cause and less on trying to guilt you into giving more money to their cause.

ReplyDeleteI wanted to edit my previous comment:
ReplyDeleteGood luck, this hasn't worked well for me. You might want to try one of those "opt out" mail sites.
In addition, I probably would have said that I [obviously] enjoyed their tote by putting it out with the recycling.
...not to mention that the money spent on all the merchandising (sudden flashback to Spaceballs... ack!) could have gone to a good cause.
